In my experience, it takes several weeks in a good pair of shoes. I do not recommend leather shoes without socks, and if you are not sure you invest in molds and let the leather one days rest between shots in order to maximize the life of your shoes. This will prevent odors and to keep the sweat from the feet up damage to the skin.
Also be sure to keep them clean, dry and polish. Poland wax to protect the skin against the elements and keep them clean so that dirt does not reduce the skin.
